Will the run cmd (conf) for netmeeting work in Vista?

No, the recommended replacement for Netmeeting is MSN Messenger 7.5, Office Communitor or Windows Live Messenger 8.0 BETA (this version especially). -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

You can get the current version 3.0 to work if you run conf exe it in app compat mode as Windows XP SP2. You can't share from vista, but it can join existing meetings as see what others have shared.

Ahh OK :o) Check out the Vista Product Guide, then page 299 and it's the 4th point. http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/9/8/C988DCE4-1971-4AD4-A1EF-DF99E596A4CC/(60MB)--Windows%20Vista%20Product%20Guide.doc

The Windows Vista product guide just like Windows Vista is subject to change. Right now, its called Windows Collaboration, the Windows Vista Product Guide is not the Windows Vista operating system. -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Zack Whittaker" wrote in message

Hi Josh, we would like to be able to use Netmeeting with Vista to support legacy setups. We only need to view what another user is sharing and take control of their desktop.
I've tried installing V3 but it wont let you. I've copied my Netmeeting folder and msconf.dll to the System32 folder and set to compatibility mode. The splash screen comes up, dissapears, then nothing.
Can you provide any more detail on how you got this to work.
Thanks for your help in advance

I'd be interested in knowing how to get it to run as well.
Thanks Jared

You have my vote as well. I am a Vista user who needs to support a remote user via sharing the screen (like was available in NetMeeting) and that remote user is a XP user.
Do we have to go to MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger to get screen sharing to work? I don't need or care for anyother features, like Chat, IM, etc. Just free collaboration by screen sharing.
What was the answer to Keith's question?

Hi,
You can download a version of Netmeeting for Vista, from Microsoft. See this KnowledgeBase article for details:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927853
Hope it helps,

MS has a hotpatch version of Netmeeting 3.0.2 for installation on Vista. It has limitations but is better than nothing. See the link below for details. You have to call and request it though. Be sure to reference the KB article and that you are calling for the free hotpatch. You will NOT be charged.

Seems that the old netmeeting has gone...Which way is supposed to be used/supported to connect and share things (app sharing mainly) with systems yet running Windows XP so they can not use Windows Collaboration?
